The Decline of China: An Economic Perspective

The editor-in-chief raises the question: Why is China's economic growth constrained? He suspects the household registration system is to blame. In my humble opinion, it should be the system, but not limited to the household registration. The household registration system mainly hinders population mobility, but there seems to be no economic theory suggesting this is extremely important.
